About

About

Hi, I'm Yazan.

I'm a software engineer in Seymour, Connecticut, and Laurel Ridge Software Solutions is my practice. I started it because I kept seeing businesses across the Naugatuck Valley paying for software that didn't fit — bloated WordPress sites that load slowly, off-the-shelf tools that almost work, and integrations held together with copy-paste.

I spent ten years building enterprise web applications and AWS cloud infrastructure before starting this — you can check that history on LinkedIn . The point of this business is to bring that same engineering rigor to small and medium businesses at prices that make sense.

When you hire me, you work with me. There's no project manager relaying messages, no offshore handoff, and no account team you've never met. I work with businesses across Connecticut and I'm happy to meet in person anywhere in the Valley or the New Haven area.

I build five things: fast, hand-coded websites built on the technical foundations search engines reward; integrations that connect the software and spreadsheets you already have; custom software for businesses that have outgrown spreadsheets and off-the-shelf tools; workflow automations that eliminate repetitive manual tasks; and AI solutions — from internal document processing to customer-facing assistants — that run on your data, on your servers or mine.

Work Process

How I Work

My process is designed to be straightforward and collaborative. Here's what you can expect.

  • Discovery

I start with a conversation about your business — what's working, what's not, and where you're losing time or money. For websites, I send a short questionnaire. For software and automation projects, I do a deeper scoping session.

  • Proposal & Design

I put together a clear proposal with scope, timeline, and pricing. For websites, you'll see a design mockup before I write a line of code. For software projects, I define the deliverables and milestones up front.

  • Build

I develop your solution with regular check-ins so nothing is a surprise. You'll see working demos along the way, not just a finished product at the end.

  • Launch & Support

I deploy, walk you through everything, and make sure it works in the real world. After launch, I'm still here — whether that's a monthly retainer, on-call support, or just answering questions.

Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions? Here are answers to the ones I get most often about services, pricing, and process.

  • It's simple: you pay $200 monthly with a 12 month commitment. You can cancel anytime after the 12 months, though you wouldn't keep the site. I handle everything from hosting to updates to edits. It's a hassle-free way to get a professional website without a large upfront cost or ongoing maintenance headaches.

  • The subscription is month-to-month after the initial commitment period. You can continue without any long-term contract.

  • They're spelled out in your service agreement, and I'll walk you through every clause before you sign. The short version: after the initial term you can cancel with no fee, and I'll transfer your domain to you.

  • Unfortunately not. There is a lot of upfront work to build and configure a store and its listings, so it isn't feasible for me to offer a subscription model for that.

  • Add-on fees are billed once at the beginning of the contract. You will not pay a recurring charge for these one-time work items.

  • Text changes, image swaps, updating hours or contact details, adding a team member, swapping out a PDF — anything that changes what's on an existing page. Most go live within one business day. New pages, structural redesigns, and new functionality are quoted separately, because they're builds rather than edits. On the lump-sum plan, unlimited edits are a $600/year add-on billed annually; on the monthly plan they're included.

  • Website maintenance is included in the subscription fee. I monitor your site for issues, apply updates, and make minor changes as needed. If you require significant changes or additions, those may incur additional fees.

  • You will own your domain name. I can help you register it if you haven't already done so, and also manage it on your behalf if you wish. But if you cancel for any reason, I'll promptly transfer the domain to you. I won't hold your business hostage.

  • I use HTML, CSS, and minimal JavaScript — no WordPress, no page builders, no databases to exploit. Your site is a set of static files served from Cloudflare's global network, which means fast load times and a minimal attack surface.

  • Building from scratch lets me optimize everything — performance, styling, security, and SEO. Page builders add layers of code your site doesn't need, which slows it down and increases the attack surface. My static sites have no databases, no plugins to update, and no admin panels to breach.

  • I follow best practices for SEO, including optimizing site speed, mobile responsiveness, and on-page content. The sites I build use clean, semantic HTML to ensure they are easily crawlable by search engines.

  • You can request changes by emailing me with the details. I handle everything from there within a timeframe dependent on the scope of your request.

  • Business automation uses software to handle repetitive tasks and workflows — from syncing data between tools to generating reports to processing documents with AI. The goal is to save time, reduce errors, and let your team focus on work that actually needs a human.

  • Essentially, I aim to free up human resources and/or reduce operational costs. I work with you to identify areas where automation could have the most impact on your business. This could include automating customer communications, streamlining internal processes, or integrating different software tools to work together more effectively. I don't engage in high-pressure sales tactics. If I can't identify a clear benefit to your business, I'll tell you so. I'm not interested in selling you something you don't need.

  • I can build a wide range of automations tailored to your specific business needs. This includes automating data entry tasks, setting up workflows for customer onboarding, integrating different software applications, and creating custom reporting solutions. It really depends on your needs. I have experience writing software that interacts with APIs, scrapes websites, processes data, and more. If you have a specific task in mind, just ask and I'll let you know if it's feasible.

  • I use a variety of technologies to build automations, including programming languages like Python and JavaScript, frameworks like Node.js and Django, and tools like Zapier or n8n. I stay current with the tooling so I'm using the right thing for your specific needs, not just the thing I used last time.

  • Every project is different. Quotes are calculated based on the specific requirements of your project. This includes factors such as the complexity of the automation, the technologies involved, and the estimated time and resources needed to complete the work. I provide detailed quotes after discussing your needs and understanding the scope. Get in touch for a no-obligation consultation.
